Luxury Chambres d'Hôtes Uzes
BED & BREAKFAST IN STYLE
Come and enjoy the peaceful setting of a small French village tucked away in the midst of the Côtes du Rhône vineyards, just 10 minutes from Uzès, France’s first Duchy and midway between the historic towns of Avignon and Nîmes. Five beautifully restored and decorated ensuite bedrooms await your arrival at our B&B.
Relax and unwind after a day of discovering the wonderful sights this region has to offer, or simply spend the day soaking up the sun by the (heated) pool, before joining your hosts for an apero.
The rooms, garden and terraces at Mas d’Augustine have been designed to create a haven of luxury and calm.
Mas d’Augustine, a former silk farm built in the latter part of the 18th Century, retains many of its original features and has been restored with respect for the original architecture.
With its beautiful arched entrance, stone stairs, terracotta ceilings and stone floors, the ancient charm of the house has been beautifully blended with all the comforts that we have come to expect in this day and age.
Leave behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life and step back in time, where past and future blend in perfect harmony, creating a retreat of luxury, culture and history.
AROUND & ABOUT
La Bruguière, home of Mas d’Augustine, is ideally situated to discover everything that makes Languedoc-Roussillon special.
We are at the gateway to the wonderful countryside of the Cévennes, Alpilles and Carmague and the Languedoc beaches and ports of Port Carmague, Le Grau-du-Roi and Aigues-Mortes are about an hour away (as are the famous beach clubs and casino at La Grande-Motte).
The Roman history at Avignon and Nîmes, the awe inspiring views from the famous Pont du Gard, the art galleries and potteries at St Quentin la Poterie and the world famous Avignon Festival, are all within easy reach.
Your visit would not be complete without a trip to the famous Uzès (Saturday & Wednesday morning) market, with over 500 stalls in the Place aux Herbes, or without joining in the fun at one of the many Fête Votives held in adjoining villages during the season.
In the immediate vicinity of La Bruguière you can enjoy 250 km of signposted trails in gentle hills of Holm Oak, Fig and Olive trees, or in the local Garrigues, a vast wildlife area full of birds and butterflies, with the smell of wild thyme underfoot. Further afield you can venture into the Cévennes National Park, the Carmague, or venture to the top of Mont Ventoux (made famous by the Tour de France).
For wine lovers, opportunities for wine tasting are plentiful and the famous vineyards of Les Costières de Nîmes, Tavel, Lirac and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, are all easily reached.
Canoeing, even for the novice, is available on the river Gardon, offering unique views of the Pont du Gard. For those more adventurous and practised, slightly more demanding canoeing is offered in the Gorges de l’Ardèche, just 30 minutes away from La Bruguière.
For something different, hot-air balloon rides are a popular activity offering an aerial view of Uzès and the surrounding areas - this is the only place in the Gard where you can enjoy this particular pastime.
For those golf fanatics amongst you, just 15 kms away Golf Club d’Uzès offers a 9-hole par 36 course. Alternatively, for the more discerning player, Nîmes enjoys two excellent golf courses at Campagne and Vacquerolles.
Whether a cultural tourist, more sporting individual or a little of both, Mas d’Augustine offers a special base for your holiday.
